The day dawned clear with a blue sky and visibility measured in miles as the initial geophysics was undertaken at Things Va.

However appearances can be deceptive. The temperature had dropped to just above freezing and, following overnight torrential rain evidenced by the waterlogged ground, a keen gale force wind from the north carried now flurries across the landscape.

The ORCA team soldiered on and completed the survey within the day, paving the way for the second phase of the project when the weather improved.
The large scale of the Things Va site can be judged from this photograph of the geophysics survey area.

Check out the results in the annotated diagram to the left.

Giving the past a presence now and for the future
